A Court of Mist and Fury - Sarah J. Maas

Summary :

Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

          Review:

Welcome back to the Fae world ! Sarah J.Mass never failed to impress me , as soon as i know that a book is by her , i know that i will love it.

This one was a page turner , i couldn't put it down . I had so many emotions while reading it i don't even know where to begin!!!

Well , the bargain begins , and " Feyre " get taken to The Night Court , to the city of Velaris, where there is peace and love , art and magic and the beautiful stars. I wish i could go there! That's one of the reasons i enjoyed this story , and we got to visit The Summer Court ,let me tell you about the others:

We got to meet new characters,  badass ones , i loved them all , from the mortal queens to the evil king , and the Illyrian warriors. And the wicked creatures like the bone carver and the weaver.

We got to know the story of "Rhysand " , the truth about him , so far he is my favorite .

"To the people who look at the stars and wish , Rhys."

Rhys clinked his glass against mine. "To the stars who listen - and the dreams that are       answered"

"Feyre " character developed so much in this book , now she's stronger and more in control over her choices, and we discovered her new Gifts

The action scenes are always amazing and breathtaking. And so are the romantic ones , this is where this book was different from the first one .b

The relationship between "Rhysand" and "Feyre" , oh lord . That's all I'm going to say out of fear of spoiling anything.

And as i said in my previous review  , Sarah's plots are always perfect , she had one hell of a way finishing tnis book , no real cliffhanger but too many things left making yu want and need the next book.

If you enjoyed the first one , A court of Thorns and Roses , you will love this one!

Review

Sarah J.Maas is one of my favorite authors , so I wasn't surprised of how much i loved this book,  and yes I'm a big fan of YA  novels , don't judge me!

This book was a "Beauty & the Beast " retelling  , i don't usually enjoy fairytales retellings , i didn't like "Cruel Beauty " but i loved this one . The author took us to the beautiful world of faeries,  the world building was very detailed,  impeccable and magical.  I want to live there so badly!

The first half of the book focused more on the romance that was bordering on new adult,  it had a lot of humour.  I felt like it was very slow in the beginning  and it took me a while to get into it but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.

The second half however was where the magic happened , it's action filled , always leaving you waiting for the next move , and mind blowing , it felt like i was reading an entirely different book!

The plot was clever and perfectly executed , i wasn't disappointed.

I liked all of the characters,  even the evil ones :

"Feyre" , our human lead character, she was strong and badass, even more so in the second half of the story

"Tamlin" , The High lord of The Spring Court , i loved his relationship with "Feyre" . It was funny and sometimes sweet (even sexy at some point)

"Lucien" a High fae who lives with "Tamlin" his story was a bit heart breaking , i believe he is everyone's favorite character,  he is too funny and witty!

"Rhysand " , Our beloved villain , and the High lord of The Night Court ,

i loooove him *_* , i enjoyed everything he did, here's how i see him:

we had some character development when it came to her sister , and we were left with no real cliffhanger,  just enough to keep us wanting to know what's going to happen next.

I recommend it to everyone! Especially YA lovers , you're in for a treat.

Norwegian Wood By Haruki Murakami

Norwegian Wood - Jay Rubin, Haruki Murakami

This is supposedly the novel that made "Haruki Murakami " famous . .

     summary :

Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before.  Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable.  As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out to others and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman.

       review :

Where do i begin? .... i assumed this book had a slow start but turns out that's how the entire story goes until the very  end , There is no real story to be told , and the plot is boring and barely existing.

The characters don't spark any interest either , we have:

"Toru" a student who can't decide anything so instead he wallows in his self pity

"Naoko" a depressed girl who has no experience with the real world & her roommate "Reiko" who i still don't know what's her role in the story

"Midori" she's supposed to be the "independent and sexually liberated young woman" but throughout the story she is nothing but clingy and insecure,  i swear i thought it was a joke with all that "oh please don't leave me" attitude.  Actually here's one of her best moments *I'm being sarcastic *:

"I'm looking for selfishness. Perfect selfishness. Like, say I  tell you I want to eat strawberry shortbread. And you stop everything you're doing and run out and buy it for me. And you come back out of breath and get down on your knees and hold this strawberry shortbread out to me. And I say I don't want it any more and throw it out the window. That's what I'm looking for."

Wich of course made our hero "Toru" fall in love with her.

Really, there is no story .. , there is the usual weird sexual content that seems to be "Haruki "'s specialty.  And oh! The ending was just horrible , the most weird ending you could ever read .

I realise that maybe his books aren't for me , so this is the last book I'll read by him.

I would not recommend this book to anyone , or maybe i Would , just to have someone to talk to about that creepy ending.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami

Kafka on the Shore - Philip Gabriel, Haruki Murakami

A dear friend of mine suggested this book , so i thought "why not?"

        summary :

Kafka on the Shore is powered by two remarkable characters: a teenage boy, Kafka Tamura, who runs away from home either to escape a gruesome oedipal prophecy or to search for his long-missing mother and sister; and an aging simpleton called Nakata, who never recovered from a wartime affliction and now is drawn toward Kafka for reasons that, like the most basic activities of daily life, he cannot fathom. As their paths converge, and the reasons for that convergence become clear, Haruki Murakami enfolds readers in a world where cats talk, fish fall from the sky, and spirits slip out of their bodies to make love or commit murder. Kafka on the Shore displays one of the world’s great storytellers at the peak of his powers.

       review:

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book , but as i started reading it , i found the characters relatable and likeable,  each one of them is fighting his own demons and trying to find his purpose or run away from his past. The story however was truly weird ,i felt like it was all over the place , from the young boy "kafka" looking for his mother and talking to an imaginary crow :

To the old man "Nakata " who talks to cats and makes the sky rain with fish:

The characters themselves were very nice , but their stories bothered me , i didn't enjoy them nor understand the point from them, And don't even get me started about the sexual content !, but i went through this story and read every page , because obviously all this weirdness left me with a lot of questions

But guess what??

I finished the book and still couldn't understand a thing!

I would say the only good thing about this book is the character of "Oshima" , that character was the only thing that made sense in this book.

maybe it's just that this book isn't for me , but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Throw Away Girls

Throw Away Girls (Jaycee Wilder Series) - Jennifer Vaughn
"This ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review”

Just look at that beautiful cover!!
I knew it was going to be a great story from the first page , not many books have such a Kick-ass start .
I mainly enjoyed this book because of Jaycee's strong character , and the killer kept me anticipating his next move, i would love to read more about him and see what he is planning to do next. Because I'm a big fan of killers driven by their horrible pasts :

"He had an objective and a duty to clean up the garbage, to prevent another child from being born to the lowest levels of humans not fit to raise a goat.
He took the women, the breaders of life . He threw them away before they could torment another innocent being."

I liked how the author managed to make the police reports/encounters interesting, in most stories they come across as a bit boring , but not in this one, so good job!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery /thriller story
Especially those who love villains with troubled pasts .
